Chief Country Officer Saudi Arabia, Citi
Carmen Haddad is the Chief Country Officer – Saudi Arabia and has been the Citi Saudi Arabia Business and Governance Head since summer 2017. Prior to her current role, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Citibank Qatar from November 2013 until the December of 2017.
In parallel, as a Citi Private Bank (CPB) Executive since 2004, Carmen oversees the Saudi Arabia team, while heading the Family Office that serves Citi’s largest Middle East shareholder since April 2009. Formerly, she oversaw the Gulf, Egypt and Levant Private Bank teams.
Carmen joined CPB Middle East North Africa (MENA) region in January 2000. During her tenor, she has held numerous senior client coverage, and management roles focusing on Mega Wealth & Royal client segments, capitalizing on the CPB’s investment platform in partnership with Citi’s Institutional Client Group’s (ICG) Securities & Banking teams, delivering tailored solutions harnessing the full potential of our global network and capabilities.
Prior to Citigroup, Carmen worked in Sales & Trading at Lehman Brothers until April 1997. Subsequently, she joined Merrill Lynch brokerage division until January 2000. Her banking career started at JP Morgan Chase in the Asset Management Division as a member of the Portfolio Strategy Group, which managed globally diversified, equity specific, hedged institutional investment mandates.
Carmen was ranked by Forbes Middle East among the Top 100 most powerful and influential Arab Business Women in 2018 and Financial News named Carmen to its list of the top 50 Most Influential Women in Finance in the Middle East in 2018.
Carmen has been inducted eight times and is a Hall of Fame member of CPB Chairman’s Council.
Carmen Co-Chaired the Citi UAE Women’s Network until 2017 and has been on the Injaz Al-Arab regional MENA board since 2015.
Carmen holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Richmond University, United Kingdom.
Carmen is Iraqi / German, has one son and currently resides with her husband in Dubai, UAE.
